In a continuing effort to ease the cost of living and support growing households, the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) has announced that large families in Singapore will receive $1000 LifeSG credits on April 28, 2026. This payout marks the second disbursement under the Large Families Scheme, which was initially introduced by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong during Budget 2025. The initiative is designed to help parents defray daily household expenses, including groceries, transport, and utilities. Here’s everything you need to know about the large families payout in 2026.
Who is eligible for the payout?
The $1000 LifeSG credits are targeted specifically at larger families with young children. You will qualify for the 2026 payout if you meet the following criteria:
- Birth Order: The child must be your third or subsequent Singapore citizen child.
- Age Requirement: The child must be aged between one and six years old (born between 2020 and 2025).
Under this scheme, eligible families receive an annual $1,000 top-up from the year their child turns one until the year they turn six.
How to claim & use your credits
Wonderfully, no application is required which makes it easier for busy parents. Here’s what will happen:
- Automatic Disbursement: The funds will be automatically added to the LifeSG digital wallet of the eligible kid’s Child Development Account (CDA) trustee on April 28.
- Where to spend: These credits offer broad flexibility. They can be used at any merchant across Singapore that accepts PayNow UEN QR or NETS QR. This includes heartland supermarkets, pharmacies, utility providers, and even transport services like taxis.
- Validity Period: The LifeSG credits are valid for 12 months from the date of issue. Any unused funds will automatically expire after one year, so parents are encouraged to use them for their daily expenses.
Additionally, the MSF have warned of scams with the rise of phishing attempts. The group have laid out clear guidelines to safeguard citizens against scams. CDA trustees will receive an official SMS notification directly from gov.sg once the credits are successfully disbursed into the LifeSG app. Remember the government will never ask you to reply to the SMS, click on unverified links, or provide personal banking information via text.
