Joe Hisaishi is known for masterminding more than 100 film scores including all but one of Studio Ghibli films. His genius was used by Hayao Miyazaki to bring even more magic, fantasy and feeling to his superb storytelling. Now on the 23rd of March, you can relive memorable scenes from your favourite Studio Ghibli movies as they are played by a 17 piece orchestra.
The evening blends the fantastic worlds created at Studio Ghibli and Joe Hisaishi with the gorgeous sounds of violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, trumpet and percussion, all in one truly spectacular setting. Bathed in the light of hundreds of candles you will be completely swept away by the beautiful melodies of Hisaishi. He’s most often credited with the magical musical scores of Studio Ghibli’s fantastical films, such as Howl’s Moving Castle, My Neighbour Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service and Spirited Away among many others. You’ll be able to hear them resound in one of Singapore’s most stunning spaces, Victoria Concert Hall on Thursday 23 March.
