Famous British boyband Coldplay unveiled their latest music video today, for their new track Man In The Moon, and it was filmed entirely in Singapore. The exciting music video captures the heart of Singapore, featuring the city’s best landmarks, as well as young, vibrant Singaporeans, and even those cheeky Marina Bay otters. Here’s what we know about the Coldplay music video shot in Singapore:
Coldplay Singapore music video
The music video captures the true essence of Singapore with stunning city visuals and a celebration of its multicultural identity. Directed by Ben Mor, who is known for his work on Coldplay’s Hyme for the Weekend music video, it blends the band’s signature uplifting themes with Singapore’s dynamic cityscape. In fact, Coldplay said it was ”really fun to have a kind of dance party” against the backdrop of Singapore.
The video mainly features Coldplay performing on a custom-built floating stage at Marina Bay. Meanwhile, it spotlights the breathtaking skyline including famous tourist attractions such as Marina Bay Sands, the Singapore Flyer, and Gardens By The Bay, serving as a backdrop.
Additionally, the video takes viewers on a journey through well-known attractions and hidden gems. From Jewel Changi Airport, to Fort Canning Park, vibrant neighbourhoods such as Chinatown, HDB estates in MacPherson, and even a nostalgic kopitiam in Geylang….those who have never been to the city get a glimpse into local life through this video.
Diverse backgrounds and stories unite
Particularly, the Man In The Moon music video highlights Singaporean youth, diversity, and identities. The city’s multicultural environment provides an ideal backdrop for this song’s theme – where people with different backgrounds and stories unite – like local talent Shazza, visual artist Sam Lo, and other creatives. Plus, the finale brings youths together, on the floating stage at Marina Bay with Coldplay, as they belt out the chorus. See the video below.
Man In The Moon is from the extended Full Moon Edition of the band’s newest global number one album Moon Music.
The music video was filmed in partnership with Warner Music Singapore and Singapore Tourism Board. It was shot in January 2024 during the band’s Music of the Spheres World Tour stop in the Lion City.
