Professional Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo will return to Singapore this weekend for the #BeSIUPER initiative. Ronaldo will be here on Friday (June 2) and Saturday (June 3), according to a report by visit organiser Mint Media Sports.
It will be the 38-year-old Portuguese man’s first visit to Singapore since 2019. Here, he will support both the NPark’s Peter Lim Scholarship for less privileged youths to pursue dreams in ecology, veterinary, animal science, horticulture and landscape, as well the Peter Lim Scholarship by Singapore Olympic Foundation. This scholarship was first launched in 2010 to support aspiring athletes while Lim introduced Ronaldo to the foundation back in 2013.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Schedule
On June 2, Ronaldo will raise awareness about his #BeSIUPER mindset with more than 200 beneficiaries of the NParks-Peter Lim Scholarship. First launched in 2020, Lim donated $10 million to the scholarship programme. Since then, it has provided 537 study awards worth $1.3 million to students from NAFA, IYE, the Polytechnics, and other universities under NParks.
On June 3, he will meet more than 1,000 young people and join some aspiring footballers for a friendly game of Padel Ball, at Marine Parade Cluster Fun Fest, as part of the SOF-Peter Lim Scholarship.
In May, Ronaldo confirmed his trip to Singapore to his 586 million followers on Instagram, alongside a picture at Yumin Primary School in 2019. He stated: ”Had the pleasure a few years ago to visit Singapore, spend some time with these amazing kids and see the great work of the Peter Lim Scholarship. Looking forward to see all of you again next month.”
The award-winning footballer, with a number of career titles, from a three-time Best FIFA Men’s Player to winning the Ballon d’Or five times, is currently based in Saudi Arabia. He is the captain and plays for both Saudi’s Al Nassr, and his own home team of Portugal.
