The National Parks Board (NParks) announced the 18km Eastern Corridor route is finally complete and opened to the public in Singapore. Wonderfully, it launched on February 17 with the opening of a 600m Bedok Park Connector along Sungei Bedok waterway.
Eastern Corridor – Singapore
The Eastern Corridor is set between East Coast Park and Pasir Ris Park through Bedok Reservoir Park and links various parks around Singapore. According to reports, the new route which opened on Saturday is around 3.2km. It connects eight different parks and it has been progressively completed since it was first announced in 2021.
According to NParks, half of the route is situated along waterfronts – including those enhanced under national water agency PUB’s Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters (ABC Waters) Programme – which offers a scenic cycling route along eastern waterscapes.
The Eastern Corridor is the perfect place for a jog or cycle on one of the new recreational cycling routes on the banks of Sungei Bedok. Additionally, it offers gorgeous seaside views at East Coast Park.
Highlights along the route include therapeutic gardens such as Sun Plaza Park Therapeutic Gardens filled with beautiful flowers and plants, wildlife spotting, stunning picnic spots, children’s playground such as Bedok Ria Crescent Playground and Eastwood Park Playground, as well as fitness facilities, large viewing decks, noteworthy flora and biodiversity, and more attractions.
The Eastern Corridor showcases Singapore as the green city it is known for. Plus, it connects green spaces in the region easily. Definitely, it’s an excellent outdoor activity and place to unwind, read a book, or relax in the sunshine. The new route exists within the 75km Round Island Route which will be 150km by 2035.
