Founded in New York City’s Union Square back in 1990 and later expanding into a massive favourite across Japan, with over 40 global outlets…the iconic brand has chosen Singapore for its very first Southeast Asia outpost. Located on Orchard Road, the new flagship bakery bridges legendary New York heritage bakes with refined Japanese-influenced bakery craftsmanship. Here’s what to expect.
Why is The City Bakery a must-try?
Customers are obsessed with the famous Pretzel Croissant—a brilliant cross between a buttery French pastry and a classic salted pretzel—alongside popular hot chocolate and other bakery staples like powered cinnamon rolls, delicious chunky cookies, blueberry muffins, and sesame croissants.
Interestingly, Singapore’s outlet introduces an all-new Pan No Mi (bread and drink pairing) dining concept. It features an expansive restaurant menu where diners can look forward to hearty dishes, including burgers, pastas, steaks, tapas bites, and more. Plus, these items are paired with specialty coffee or white wine.

Notably, despite its famous New York City heritage in the 1990s, The City Bakery no longer has any presence in the United States. Meanwhile, the Singapore location is the only outlet outside of Japan.
