Singapore is set to welcome a slice of Australia’s dessert heaven with the opening of Gelato Messina. This cult-favourite gelateria is known for its innovative flavours, top-quality gelato, and elevated gelato experience in art form. The brand, founded in Sydney in 2002 by Nick Palumbo, is celebrated for crafting its gelato from scratch, using premium ingredients sourced from its own farms, and has won titles such as the ”Best Gelato in Australia”. Here’s what we know about Gelato Messina in Singapore.
First Gelato Messina in Singapore
Singapore’s Gelato Messina has not been official confirmed by the brand but passerbys noticed scaffolding in Chinatown. This signage attracted a buzz with Singaporeans spreading their joy about the artisanal gelato shop coming to the city-state for the first time. Allegedly, the gelato store will open in the next month next to Merci Marcel near Club Street and Cross Street.
Interestingly, the popular gelato shop produces everything in-house, from brownies and fudges to hazelnut pastes, bespoke gelato cakes, and more, ensuring that every ingredient is crafted to perfection. In Australia, it offers more than 40 flavours at any given time – including classics like Salted Caramel, Pistachio Praline, and Chocolate Mint, as well as playful seasonal creations like Basque Cheesecake – which are made fresh daily from Messina’s own dairy farm. Perhaps, there’ll be some Singapore-exclusive flavours?
Additionally, Gelato Messina caters to dietary needs with gluten-free, nut-free, egg-free, alcohol-free, and vegan options.
Known for a vibrant store atmosphere and Instagram-worthy creations that has attracted the likes of popstar Dua Lipa…this gelateria is poised to become a new favourite ice cream shop in Singapore.
In fact, Gelato Messina has outlets across Sydney and in other cities like Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, and Perth, to name a few. Certainly, this marks another global milestone for the brand which previously expanded to Hong Kong. Learn more about the brand on their website.
