Holland & Barrett closure
The financial struggles of MA Supplements, the company responsible for Holland & Barret’s presence in Singapore, played a significant role in the closure. On March 4, MA Supplements directors made a statutory declaration stating their inability to continue the business due to liabilities.
The Holland & Barret closure in Singapore has left both employees and customers in a state of shock. Allegedly, employees were not given enough time to search for other jobs, and there was a lack of communication from management, according to one employee who shared their experience on Facebook. Similarly, customers were caught off guard and some expressed frustration at the brand’s decision to close. Meanwhile, one customer reported having a $300 membership balance that would now go to waste due to the inability to use vouchers for payments now.
Indeed, the closure of Holland & Barret’s Singapore outlets reflect broader challenges faced by retailers in a competitive market. The brand once operated 27 stores in Singapore offering a wide range of health products and organic food. However, the sudden exist highlights the difficulties in sustaining operations in a market where consumer preferences and economic conditions are evolving.
The exit of the well-known international brand Holland & Barrett from Singapore has left questions about the brand’s future global operations.
