The largest flower carpet in Singapore was unveiled at Gardens By The Bay on September 23 last year. And wonderfully, the masterpiece returns to Supertree Grove on September 4 at 8pm for its second edition. The impressive horticultural display spans 34.2 metres in diameter, almost matching the length of a Boeing 737 aircraft, is composed of more than 100,000 live potted plants and 20,000 cut flowers. Here’s what we know about the 2024 carpet:
Flower Carpet Singapore
Until September 15, visitors will be mesmerised by a brand-new flower carpet featuring an iconic dragon playground and the national flower Papilionathe Miss Joaquim.
Last year the flower carpet featured a batik-inspired design with the national flower. Meanwhile, the design was enriched with native orchids of Singapore and the leaves of the raintree. Plus, the petals of the flower carpet represented four main ethnic groups of Singapore using symbols such as lantern and bell. We can only expect the 2024 masterpiece to follow the same format.
The creation of the flower carpet is normally set up by around 300 volunteers from various organizations in approximately 200 hours.
The flower carpet in Singapore is free admission. It opens from 10am to 10pm daily. Definitely, it’s one of the best things to do for free during the Mid-Autumn Festival 2024 in Singapore.
