Those who watched Squid Game upon its release last year will know already that the fate of the game’s players is pretty ill, to say the least. But that whopping cash prize? It’s pretty tempting… even with the almost-certain risk of death.
Excellently, Netflix is bringing this hit South Korean series Squid Game to life in one of the biggest reality shows to be created.
Squid Game: The Challenge– thankfully, doesn’t involve A) being shot in a game of Red Light, Green Light B) Being shot for being crap at Dalgona shapes or C) plummeting to the ground in a savage game of Tug of War.
SQUID GAME: THE CHALLENGE
The reality TV series puts 456 real players to test in a set of unpredictable challenges inspired by the twisted thriller series. Plus, there’ll be a couple of new additions to push players to extremes while strategies, alliances and personalities are vital for survival.
Netflix promises that the stakes will be high, but fortunately, the player’s worst fate will be heading home empty-handed. However, Netflix have hinted that every person taking part will be rewarded. Meanwhile, one lucky player will take home a life-changing $4.56 million.
Brandon Riegg, Netflix VP Unscripted and Documentary Series said: “Squid Game took the world by storm with Director Hwang’s captivating story and iconic imagery. We’re grateful for his support as we turn the fictional world into reality in this massive competition and social experiment.”
Casting is currently underway in English-speaking countries globally. Additionally, filming will take place in the United Kingdom for four weeks, hopefully, in early 2023. Here are some requirements to know before entering:
