This would be due to increased interaction with multiple households.
Singapore’s government are considering tightening restrictions ahead of the Chinese New Year period. This is, of course, a time with increased interaction between the public.
In an interview, co-chair of the Multi-Ministry Taskforce Lawrence Wong said the government are considering the measures needed to safeguard in a period of increased intermingling. He added that they would “highlight” any new measures when they are ready.
“We are concerned that if we continue in the same sort of situation, [if] we don’t do something more, then this continued creep in the cases may end up in new clusters emerging, that may be beyond our control later,” he said.
“So, we are considering very carefully now whether additional measures may be necessary.”
“Exactly what these are – whether they pertain to house visitations, what kind of measures – we are still studying. And when we are ready we will highlight them.”
