We love music. Music is powerful because it has an ability to touch our emotions, influence our physiology, bring people together, and enhance cognitive processes, as well as being a source of therapy to improve our mental health and manage pain. But which music stars are most likely to make fans feel sad, angry, happy, or even loved? With this in mind, Preply conducted a survey to find out which artists are most likely to stir these emotions in people. Intriguingly, Taylor Swift has the power to make Singaporeans feel the happiest.
The online learning platform collected data from participants to identify which artists made them feel sad, happy, angry, or loved. More than 1,502 Singaporeans were surveyed in the study by Preply.
Interestingly, Taylor Swift topped the charts as an artist who makes the people of Singapore feel happy. Her music has a powerful impact on listeners making 23.6% of fans feel happy and 25.9% of fans feel loved. While Ed Sheeran’s lyrics makes nearly 21% of Singaporeans feel loved.
These are the Top 5 artists most likely to make Singaporeans feel happiness:

- Maroon 5
- Black Pink
- Jay Chou
- JJ Lin
Additionally, the artists that are least likely to make Singaporeans feel happy include The Kooks, Rosalia, Vu, The Cure, and Hailee Steinfeld.
Meanwhile, the survey also includes the top artists who evoke sadness in fans. Jay Chou was ranked as the highest by 19.5% of people even though he also leads people to feel happiness. The list also mentions Taylor Swift at #2, followed by JJ Lin, Eric Chou, and Adele rounding out the top five.
Plus, Linkin Park are the most likely to make fans feel angry with 14.1% of people saying this. The top five includes Eminem, Metallica, Taylor Swift, and Kanye West. Learn more about the study.
