If your weekend routine involved grabbing a coffee and delicious meal at Singapore’s The Providore…you are going to need to find a new brunch spot. In a move that shocked both loyal patrons and the local F&B scene, the popular homegrown cafe, deli, and grocer has abruptly shut all six of its outlets in Singapore on Monday, March 9, 2026. The sudden closure, ending a 13-year solid run, was so fast that even the staff were reportedly only informed when they turned up for work today. Here’s what we know about the Providore Singapore closure.
Why did operations suddenly shut down?
Staff learned of the closure on the morning of March 9 and they found that many products had already been quietly cleared out overnight. What makes the closure particularly jarring is that it comes less than a year after a major ownership change. In April 2025, the original founder sold the brand to new investors, Vino Vibe and SingFire Capital, who publicly planned to revitalize the spaces into dynamic day-to-night concepts. At present, nobody has a clear idea of why this happened.

Unfortunately, this new chapter was cut unexpectedly short and the business has ended. However, a cryptic farewell message posted on The Providore’s Instagram offers a tiny glimmer of hope for fans: ”Partings come, but flavour and memories last forever. We look forward to meeting you again in another form in the future.”
Since bursting onto the emerging cafe scene in 2013, The Providore had built a massive following, particularly among the CBD office crowd and weekend foodies. There were outlet locations in places like VivoCity, Mandarin Gallery, Raffles Place, and more, which became the go-to destination for hearty brunch classics, artisan cheeses, and premium groceries for more than a decade.
