The Lion City is officially getting a $1 billion mega wellbeing destination as Therme Singapore just broke ground at Marina South. As Asia’s first large-scale integrated wellness destination, it promises to redefine relaxation for both everyday Singaporeans and travellers when it opens in 2030. The massive project spans over 720,000 square feet is equivalent to more than nine football fields. In fact, this development is incredibly exciting for locals because it aims to make high-quality, holistic wellness a natural and accessible part of everyday city life. Here’s what to expect.
Why is Therme Singapore set to be the ultimate urban oasis?
The groundbreaking 7-storey facility, which also includes a basement, will feature more than 20 indoor and outdoor pools, water slides for kids, and over 70 wellness treatment rooms. To cater to all kinds of visitors, the immersive experience will split into three distinct zones:
- The Play Zone: This family-oriented area features active water attractions. It includes children’s pools and interactive play areas designed for movement and shared enjoyment. Additionally, thrill-seekers can enjoy 18 water slides spanning more than 1.8 kilometres in total length.
- The Relax Zone: This space offers a tranquil escape with thermal pools and therapeutic mineral baths. Plus, visitors can take advantage of quiet water spaces and specialized amenities like hydro massage beds and infrared therapy.
- The Restore Zone: Dedicated to deeper physical and mental rejuvenation, this zone focuses on recovery. It features saunas, steam rooms, and massage treatment spaces.
Interestingly, nature and innovation take centre stage throughout this urban development. The environment will be lushly landscaped with over 200,000 plants across more than 200 species, including native Southeast Asian varieties and orchids.
Meanwhile, the iconic new attraction promises a year-round tropical oasis right on the Marina Bay skyline—complete with a free 4-hectare coastal public park that will connect the facility directly to Marina Barrage.
Additionally, visitors can indulge at more than 86,000 square feet of dining offerings paired with stunning sea views. Of course, we can’t forget to mention the advanced technologies with waterproof RFID wristbands set to act as cashless payment tools and lock keys.
Furthermore, the first-of-its-kind project will be a major boost for the local economy and is estimated to generate 400 new jobs.
