Singapore is already a city where locals and travellers flock to relax, rejuvenate, and indulge on luxury. And it’s set to elevate its status as a global wellness hub soon. In a groundbreaking move, the Therme Group (a world leader in wellbeing destinations) has been awarded a S$1 billion tender by the Singapore Tourism Board to construct Asia’s first state-of-the-art wellbeing oasis on Marina South Coast named Therme Singapore. The waterfront venue will blend nature, cutting-edge design, and holistic health and marks the group’s inaugural project in the region. Here’s what to expect at the first state-of-the-art wellbeing destination in Asia.
How will Therme Singapore redefine wellness tourism in Asia?
The development, slated for a 4-hectare waterfront site flanked by Marina Barrage and Gardens by the Bay, is expected to draw up to two million visitors annually once operational. Meanwhile, about half of these visitors are projected to be international guests.
The massive urban oasis will be more than just a typical spa. It will be an integrated destination where water, nature, and architecture coexist. Working with Singapore’s acclaimed DP Architects and its own in-house practice Therme ARC, Therme Singapore aims to craft a year-round sanctuary that merges wellness, social connection, and culture—all while enhancing the city’s identity as an urban wellness haven. Definitely, it will transform Singapore’s urban landscape.
Therme Singapore will set itself apart from conventional health resorts and spas by rooting its concept in three pillars: Water & Nature, Sustainability & Design, and Arts & Culture. Visitors can expect experiences such as thermal pools, immersive art installations, lush botanical gardens, saunas, and advanced health technologies—all seamlessly integrated under one roof.
Additionally, the first-of-its-kind facility is engineered as a model of sustainable urban development. It will boast proprietary systems for high-efficiency water recycling and green energy, as well as biophilic innovations that blur the boundaries between built spaces and the coastal park next door.
Overall, the project has been hailed as a world-class facility offering transformative wellness experiences for visitors and tourists alike. It is set to open by 2030.
