Ever wonder what happens to the decommissioned SMRT trains? There has to be somewhere they go right? Well, local startup Tiny Pod and JTC have teamed up to reuse and turn one of the trains into a quirky staycation in Singapore. In fact, it will be the first-ever train hotel in Singapore. Find out all about it below:
Train Pod @ One North
The co-living hotel invites guests to sleep inside stylish carriages at a location at 69 Ayer Rajah Crescent. The boutique hotel will have eight rooms, with en-suite bathrooms, and immersive experiences like LCD panels featuring real-life footage of the train’s earlier journeys.
The new MRT-themed hotel will sit next to a car park and a new public recreational green spaces. The new communal space will feature food and beverage vending machines, bicycle racks, repurposed train chairs to sit on an alfresco terrace, and outdoor benches, to name a few things. It’s the perfect place to get to know other guests.
The Train Pod is a similar concept to the brand’s other cool and eco-conscious shipping container hotels such as LaunchPad @ One North and Garden Pod inside Gardens By The Bay.
Developments on the quirky train hotel begun in March. However, there is very little information yet such as room rates.
Wonderfully, Train Pod @ One North is set to open in September 2024. Certainly, this is a unique experience for a memorable staycation in Singapore.
