What is ‘We call it Ballet’?
‘We call it Ballet’ is different to your average dance show. Not only does it add a new, contemporary dimension to this traditional ballet, but it also makes the art form more accessible for everyone. With the help of the LED costumes as well as a narrator, both ballet beginners as well as kids (aged 8+) can follow and enjoy the show to the max.
Ballet, its storytelling and the show
From tango to ballroom, dance in all its genres is a form of storytelling, and ballet is no different. For hundreds of years, ballet has been used as a medium for storytelling inside some of the world’s most prestigious settings, including the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow and The Palais Garnier in Paris. Now, this one-of-a-kind ballet show is lighting up Victoria Theatre in Singapore to share the story of Princess Aurora, a young monarch cursed by an evil fairy, in luminous splendour.
Innovation and tradition intertwine at ‘We call it Ballet’ in Singapore. The original performances bring the story of The Sleeping Beauty to life with talented ballerinas, music and gorgeous LED-lit costumes. Shows typically take place over the course of 60 minutes and doors open 30 minutes prior to the concert start time. Seats are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis in each zone and late entry is not permitted.
