How are local schools joining the World Cup action?
The 3AM kickoff means that local students may have to miss the biggest football game of the year or stumble into class completely sleep deprived on Monday. Delightfully, several schools across the island are stepping up to make sure students don’t have to choose.
Here’s how Singapore schools are letting students catch the World Cup action:
- Late Starts: St Joseph’s Institution (SJI) is officially moving its Monday reporting time to 8.30AM, pushing back their first lesson to ensure fans can get some extra rest. Plus, Hwa Chong Institution is allowing students to report at 9.30AM.
- Overnight Watch Parties: Victoria School is taking things to the next level by hosting a huge overnight watch party for up to 350 students. Attendees arrive on Sunday night for a pre-match sleep period before waking up to catch the game live.
- Jersey Days: Anglo-Chinese School (International) is allowing students to wear their favourite national team football jerseys to class on July 17.
