The World’s 50 Best Bar Awards 2021 were held in London last night, and when the sun dawned this morning, Singapore woke up to the news that our city had no fewer than six bars in the World’s Top 50. That’s more than any other country on earth, and just proves what we already knew: if you’re looking for a great cocktail, Singapore is the place to be!
Topping the Singapore charts was Jigger & Pony, which earned a very respectable ninth place finish. That wasn’t quite enough to earn it the accolade of The Best Bar in Asia, which went to Coa in Hong Kong (number seven on the list), but having a top 10 cocktail bar in the world is an award well worthy of a city that loves its cocktails. Uber-stylish Manhattan took fifteenth place, closely followed by Atlas in sixteenth (falling from a high of fourth last year).

Two Singapore bars entered the World’s 50 Best Bar Awards list for the first time, with the ace highballs at No Sleep Club good enough for 26th, and MO Bar, which takes inspiration from the Pacific Ocean, clocking in at 36th. Finally, Tippling Club – once home to those famous cocktail gummy bears – re-entered the list, arriving in 43rd place.
That’s almost one world-renowned cocktail bar for every day of the week (maybe we’ll take Sunday off…), which sets up a truly epic bar crawl. So, I guess the only question left is, which one will you be heading to first?
