If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to book a Spanish getaway, Singapore Airlines are officially relaunching flights to Madrid this October after a staggering 22-year absence. In a huge shake-up for its European network, the highly anticipated Singapore to Madrid route launches on October 26, 2026. The Spanish capital will officially become SIA’s 15th European destination. But before you start packing your bags, you need to be aware of the catch. Read on to find out more.
What’s the Singapore to Madrid flights catch?
The new five-times-weekly service is not a direct flight to Madrid. Instead, it includes a one-hour layover in Barcelona. This means passengers on the new route (SQ388 and SQ378) will stop in Barcelona before making a domestic hop to Madrid’s Barajas Airport.
Here’s exactly how the new Singapore-Barcelona-Madrid itinerary works:
- Launch Date: October 26, 2026
- Frequency: 5 days a week
- Aircraft: Airbus A350-900
- The Outbound Leg: Departs Singapore at 11:30 PM, touches down in Barcelona at 6:40 AM for a one-hour stop & lands in Madrid at 8:50 AM local time.
- The Return Leg: Leaves Madrid at 10:00 AM local time, stops in Barcelona & arrives back in Singapore at 8:25 AM the following day.
Interestingly, the existing Singapore-Milan-Barcelona route is being axed this month to make room for this new Madrid itinerary.
Additionally, SIA is actively upgrading its services to Manchester, Munich, and London, to make travel to Europe more seamless than ever from Singapore. Get more details on this.
