Heading out for cheap eats this week? You may want to take note as some of your favourite hawker stalls might be closed. To keep our beloved food centres sparkling and hygienic, the National Environment Agency (NEA) regularly rolls out mandatory spring cleaning sessions. If you are planning a laksa run over the next few days, you need to check the schedule before you head down. Here’s what we know about the hawker centre closures and renovations.
Which hawkers are closed this week?
The short-term cleaning roster for the first week of November 2026 affects three popular spots across the island. These include Margaret Drive Hawker Centre which took a quick one-day break on November 2.
Meanwhile, North-East and East siders need to plan their backups: Teck Ghee Court Market & Food Centre at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 is closed from November 2 to 4, and the bustling Hawker Centre @ Our Tampines Hub is shutting its doors for a thorough washdown on November 3 and 4.
Additionally, some neighbourhood favourites are currently undergoing major transformations that will require a bit more patience from residents. Telok Blangah Rise Market (Block 36) just kicked off a comprehensive two-month Repairs and Redecoration (R&R) project on November 1—and it will stay closed until the end of December.
Plus, there are ongoing renovations at Clementi West Street 2 Block 726 and Toa Payoh’s Kim Keat Palm Market—which are expected to finally wrap up on December 27 and December 13. Meanwhile, the iconic Bukit Timah Market remains closed for its massive redevelopment until 2029.
But don’t worry about the hawker centre closures, there’s still more than 100 hawker centres across Singapore to eat a delicious bowl of noodles.
