Babba is a transformative Peranakan-inspired café and restaurant new to Singapore. Excellently, people of all ages can come together to enjoy Peranakan dishes passed from generations, whether that be brunch with a twist or authentic dinners at night.
Located at Jalan Riang, the dreamy restaurant carefully blends old and new Peranakan culture. Curated by the folks behind The Brewing Ground and Glasshouse, relax in a homely space through warm lights, hanging plants and wooden lamps and fixtures.
Wake up with a wide range of brunch delights with a Peranakan influence. For instance, the chef recommends Burrata Tartine ($18), Dry Laksa Pasta ($26), indulgent Breakfast Burger ($22), to name a few.
Additionally, there is a variety of traditional salads to select from, alongside a Build-Your-Breakfast option from $8, and plenty of shared platters like the crowd-pleasing Chili Crab Loaded Fries ($16) and six pieces of Kicap Glazed Chicken Wings ($14).
From 6pm, expect the greatest comfort food experience called The Big Babba. This menu features classic starters to mains and more, based on old family recipes. For example, Crab Omelette ($24), the ever-popular Beef Rendang ($28) and stir fried tiger prawns dish, Udang Masak Tauyu ($28).
Certainly, we can’t forget about traditional desserts. Think Pulut Hitam ($10), a sweet and sticky black rice pudding with coconut sorbet and Pandan Buttermilk Waffle & Ice Cream ($13).
Undoubtably, those who love authentic Peranakan cuisine will adore Babba in Singapore. For reservations, visit the Babba website.
