Centered around themes of power, identity and community, Malaysian artist, Yee I-Lann showcases two decades of her work right here at Singapore’s ArtScience Museum. Yee I-Lann: Mansau-Ansau invites audiences on an adventure in cultural discovery. The exhibit uses woven art, performative videos and collaborations with local community projects to tackle historical and contemporary issues from social hierarchies to colonial legacies. 6. Watch as traditional filmmaking is challenged with Altered States: Experiments in Moving Image
This cinematic showcase is brought to you by both international and local filmmakers and artists. It uses experimental filmmaking techniques like chemical processes and camera-less filming. This boundary-pushing method of storytelling offers audiences a new outlook by blending science and art together to redefine the traditional cinematic experience. One of the highlights of this innovative exhibit includes the vivid colors of soap film, where light and surface tension are used to create mesmerizing patterns, or the slow melting of wax to symbolize the passage of time.

7. See Singapore’s monuments illuminated thanks to Light to Night Singapore 2025
This is one of Singapore’s most unique art events, turning iconic monuments into works of art with light projections created by talented visual artists. For 9 years, this experience has “lit up” the city with it’s displays of color and striking art work. The theme for 2025 is “Do You See Me?” offering a refined look at identity and the layers of diversity around our city.

9. Traverse through the Seeing Forest by Robert Zhao
“Seeing Forest” showcases the expanded works of Robert Zhao Renhui using video installations, sculptures, photography and more to uncover the hidden richness of Singapore’s secondary forests and explores human-nature connections. Highlights of this exhibition include the scaled-up “Trash Stratum”, which features a sculpture of deconstructed wooden boxes stacked among various screens depicting footage from Zhao’s research. It’s one of the must-visit art events this January!
