Shopping in Singapore has always been about more than just ticking off to-buy lists. Instead, there are many malls offering a full-day experience of dining, play, family time and community events under one roof. Among them, Singapore’s first eco-mall City Square Mall in Farrer Park has just raised the bar for these everyday experiences with an iconic $50 million revamp. The expansion, which began in September 2023, brings refreshed interiors, new green spaces, expanded dining options, and a first-of-its-kind community wellness facility—all designed to make the mall a place to linger, connect, and enjoy.
The 12-storey mall has gained around 26,000 square feet of additional gross floor area, allowing for more food and beverage concepts, and a revitalised tenant mix that blends established names with independent and new-to-market brands. Here’s why City Square Mall’s expansion is a must-see in Singapore.
What’s new at City Square Mall’s $50 million makeover?
Wonderfully, shoppers can now explore 21 unique new offerings. This includes dining spots like Daydream Desserts, The Fat Sparrow, Sanook Kitchen, Chef Vo Quoc Vietnamese cusiines, and much more overlooking the mall’s central atrium.

Additionally, Level 4 has been transformed into Gastro Square. This is a 24,000 square foot dining destination featuring international cuisines and regular events, workshops, and live shows—all while the main food court has moved to a retro-themed space at Basement 3.
Community and wellness sit at the heart of the revamp with CONNECT @ City Square Mall. This is a dedicated 15,000 square foot community space, spanning Level 4 and Basement 2, developed in partnership with the National Council of Social Service.

This first-stop hub brings together five social service agencies to support children and families with services. These include mental health talks, counselling, early intervention programmes, and family wellness initiatives. Plus, these spaces will host programmes like KidSTART, Safe Me!, Singapore Children’s Society Thriving Families, and more to reinforce the shopping mall’s role as a community anchor.
Plus, the outdoor and shared spaces have been reimagined to encourage play and socialising. Interestingly, a 49,000 square foot urban park named City Green is now integrated with the mall. It features refreshed landscape, communal seating, two nature-inspired playgrounds, and regularly hosts community events, seasonal markets, and local vendor fairs.

Meanwhile, sustainability remains at the forefront of the upgrade with upcycled materials, repurposed elements, alongside refreshed interiors that draw on fluid forms inspired by lily pads and circular design principles, including playful rotating history walls.

With more than 200 retail and lifestyle stores, over 70 F&B outlets, and family-friendly facilities…the refreshed mall positions itself as a one-stop lifestyle, dining, play, and wellness destination where heritage, community, and sustainability come together for multi-generational families.
