Another day, another crocodile sighting in Singapore! A rare and unexpected sighting of a crocodile was reported in Lim Chu Kang on March 18, 2025. A man, identified as Koo only, was driving along Neo Tiew Crescent when he seen the unfazed reptile basking in the sunshine along the road. As a result, the National Parks Board (NParks) are currently searching for the reptile in the area. Here’s what we know about the crocodile sighting in Lim Chu Kang:
Lim Chu Kang crocodile sighting
The crocodile was spotted around 1pm on March 18 and the Facebook user managed to later share two photos he captured of the reptile on the Singapore Wildlife Sightings Group. In his post, he hilariously described the scene as ”someone’s pet lizard sunbathing on the road”. While in typical Singaporean fashion, other users poked fun at the situation, commenting things like ”He wanna go to the Bazaar lah”.
Meanwhile, the sighting raised questions about the origin of the crocodile. Initially, it was suspected that it might have come from nearly nature reserve Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. However, another possible source is the Long Kuan Hung Crocodile Farm – the last remaining crocodile farm in the country – which is located along the same road where the sighting occurred. Certainly, this could be the origins of the stray reptile.
National Parks Board (NParks) immediately activated a search team to locate the crocodile. As of the time of writing on March 19, the stray crocodile remains at large. Additionally, NParks advised the public to remain calm if they encounter a crocodile and back away slowly without approaching, provoking, or feeding it.
Be sure to contact the authorities if you see the Lim Chu Kang crocodile in Singapore.
Other crocodile sightings in Singapore
Singapore has experienced a few crocodile sightings in recent years. Particularly, saltwater crocodiles have been spotted cruising through the water in Yishun Dam at least two times since last year. Another notable event was the escape of hundreds of crocodiles from a Batam Farm in January 2025 near Singapore.
