Your taxi to the club could be getting a huge glow up.
Singapore could become host of the world’s first electric-powered air taxis by the end of 2023.
German manufacturers Volocopter GmbH is developing the vertical-takeoff crafts believe the process could be ready in three years time.
In order to take to the skies, the machines must undertake flight trials, evaluations and certification from the city. The Volocopter completed a demonstration over Singapore’s Marina Bay last October.
It is thought that the first commercial use would take the same route, and appeal to tourists. Beautiful views of the skyline are to be part of the initial attraction, with plans including cross-border journeys set to follow.
And, you can even pre-book a slot already. Easy though, a 15-minute ride is priced at US$364. The aircrafts hold one passenger along with the pilot, but plans are in place to increase the space for two passengers to ride on one craft.
So, by the end of 2023, Singapore’s skies might just be looking a whole lot more futuristic and sci-fi thanks to Volocopter.
