Have you been considering expanding your family with a new furry best friend? Well this weekend is your chance for a heartwarming upgrade. On May 9, Golden Village VivoCity is teaming up with local animal welfare group SOSD to host the ”GOHAN” Charity Screening and Adoption Drive. It’s a rare and beautiful opportunity to catch a highly-anticipated film while potentially meeting the rescue dog of your dreams right in the foyer of the cinema. Here’s what we know.
How does this cinema dog adoption drive actually work?
The unique event is built around the early charity screening of the hit Thai film Gohan. Coming from the producers of the acclaimed How To Make Millions Before Grandma Dies and co-directed by Baz Poonpiriya (Bad Genius), the movie beautifully chronicles the life of a stray dog searching for warmth and a place to call home.
Having already been a massive success in Thailand, the film is a deeply personal project for the filmmakers. Meanwhile, they hope the story inspires audiences to reflect on the special bond between humans and animals and to consider opening their homes to pet adoption.

Even if you aren’t catching the film, you can still participate in the mission to help these animals. The dog adoption drive itself is completely free and open to the public, taking place at the GVmax Foyer from 12pm to 3pm on Saturday.
Additionally, those who want to enjoy the full charity screening can pay just $48 to watch the movie at 11am. Wonderfully, these tickets include entry to the film, exclusive premium, and a paw treat gift pack from Mutt’s Mart. Plus, ticket proceeds go directly to SOSD to support their ongoing rescue efforts in Singapore.
