Singapore isn’t short of mesmerising art murals, in particular, by renowned local artist Yip Yew Chong. From Little India to Chinatown, Tiong Bahru, and beyond…most of the stunning art scenes depicting Singapore were created by none other than Yip Yew Chong.
Fairmont Singapore collaborated with Yip Yew Chong to bring an exhibition showcasing his latest masterpiece which is the longest painting in his career. I Paint My Singapore consists of a 60-metre long acrylic artwork, showcasing 27 scenes spread across panels, each measuring 2.2 metres in height and 1.1 metres in width.
I Paint My Singapore exhibition
Wonderfully, it’s the first time the magnificent artwork will be showcased in a dedicated exhibition at Level 4 in Raffles City Convention Centre. The free-to-enter exhibition will runs until January 1, 2024.
The fascinating artwork depicts a wide range of themes and subjects. For example, admire an aerial view of Collyer Quay and Raffles Place, spot seaside scenes of Padang and Singapore River, surrounded by civic buildings near Fairmont Singapore, and more of Singapore’s ever-changing landscape from the past to present day.
Interestingly, Chong first started the painting back in August 2021 and finished in January 2023. Visitors can enjoy the masterpiece from 10am to 8pm daily.
Additionally, there will be live painting sessions by Yip Yew Chong on selected dates. Meanwhile, you can buy a picture book of the painting at the exhibition. Plus, Accor Live Limitless members can participate in a one-hour private tour with Chong. Learn more on Fairmont Singapore.
