Now that it’s the Christmas season, 2024 is getting very close. Delightfully, Singapore will have five long public holiday weekends and 11 public holiday dates in 2024. This number is down by two extra long weekends in 2023, as a result of Vesak Day 2023. The 2024 dates were released by the Ministry of Manpower in May.
Nevertheless, the five long public holiday weekends means that local holidaymakers can plan five different weekend trips out of Singapore. These holidays are New Years Day, Chinese New Year, Good Friday, Hari Raya Haji and National Day.
Here is the list of public holidays for 2024 in Singapore:
Monday, January 1, New Years Day
Saturday, February 10, Chinese New Year
Sunday, February 11, Chinese New Year
Friday, March 29, Good Friday
Wednesday, April 10, Hari Raya Puasa
Wednesday, May 1, Labour Day
Wednesday, May 22, Vesak Day
Monday, June 17, Hari Raya Haji
Friday, August 9, National Day
Thursday, October 31, Deepavali
Wednesday, December 25, Christmas Day
Note how Monday February 12, 2024 will be a public holiday.
Wonderfully, employees who work on public holidays in Singapore are entitled to an extra day’s salary at the basic rate of pay, in addition to their gross rate of pay for that day, as stated by MOM.
Certainly, it’s the perfect time to plan an escape abroad, go on a cheap holiday nearby, go island hopping, or opt for a staycation in Singapore.
