It comes as no surprise that Singapore has been named one of the 2024 World’s Best Cities. Just this past year, we’ve been crowned with the world’s best roads, the best viewpoints, the most instagrammable place worldwide, the happiest country in East Asia, and contradictory, as one of the most overrated places in the world, to name a few rankings. Those overseas just love to give us titles!
Back in October, a report by consultant group Resonance named Singapore as one of the leading cities globally for 2024. The World’s Best Cities Report ranked The Lion City in fifth place behind London (first place for the ninth year in a row), Paris, New York, and Tokyo.
The report ranking considers the overall performance of more than 270 cities worldwide, in metropolitan zones with populations of more than one million, alongside a variety of measures. Analysts then choose the Top 100 places to live, visit, and invest on earth.
The World’s Best Cities report – Singapore
According to the report, Singapore is one of Asia’s most modern, well-organised, and captivating urban centres, as well as a hub for travellers to dine, shop, and be entertained. It focuses on two favourite pastimes: shopping, which ranks #11 worldwide, and eating which is #14 for restaurants. Meanwhile, Singapore’s prosperity was mentioned as #2 – because we’re due to create more green spaces and vibrant developments in the near future such as Port Tuas, the world’s largest fully automated terminal, upon completion.
Additionally, it gives a shout out to iconic landmarks like the Marina Bay Sands infinity pool and Merlion – which are perfect for photographs.
Here’s the Top 10 World’s Best Cities list:
1. London
2. Paris
3. New York
4. Tokyo
5. Singapore
6. Dubai
8. Barcelona
9. Amsterdam
10. Seoul
Indeed, the island of Singapore does have it all to make it an awesome city to live and work. But what the report doesn’t say, which we know too well, is that it’s hella expensive. Singapore was even named the fifth richest city globally back in April.
