Salt & Palm is a new restaurant, on course to becoming a trendy new hotspot, in the Singapore culinary scene. Originating from Sydney in Australia, the neighbourhood wine bar opened in March and focuses on natural wines, modern Asian cuisine and handcrafted cocktails.
Concepted by a brilliant brother and sister duo, Salt & Palm is situated in the colourful area of Joo Chiat. It boasts an intimate, chic green and brown dining space, lit up with hanging lights, alongside quirky wall paintings, marble tables – each decked out with a small golden lamp, as well as cosy bar featuring botanical elements.
Food
Taste authentic food creatively led by Executive Chef Natasya Soetantyo. Diners can expect innovative Asian food, offering diverse flavours of Indonesian cuisine as a whole archipelago, merging complex traditional spices and unique cooking techniques of the East Indies. Plus, it’s perfect for sharing.
Menu highlights include Australian pork belly Porchetta ($32), vegan Potato Cake ($12), drooling Mushroom Rendang ($20) with baby potato, rendang sauce, and toasted coconut flakes.
Meanwhile, seafood lovers can tuck into two-piece Balinese Fish Cakes ($12), pastas such as Prawn Bisque Pasta ($32), and River Prawns ($35) topped with Indonesian curry, to name a few.
Of course, we can’t forget about the delicious desserts. Opt for the likes of crowd-favourite Pandan Coconut Crème Brûlée ($15) or fruity Pavlova ($18) to finish your meal.
Beverages
Particularly, the beverage menu is impressive featuring a range of natural and conventional wines, on top of spirits and a selection of housemade cocktails, made to complement the cuisine to offer a unique tasting experience.
Wine enthusiasts can opt for a glass of vino from $17, from Pinot Blancs to Chardonnay and Merlot….you’ll be spoilt for choice. Otherwise, purchase a bottle and share with your group.
While cocktail lovers should try the Coconut Mojito ($23) or my personal favourite, the peanut butter-washed, tequila-infused Breakfast Of Champion ($23). Alternatively, send your tastebuds on an adventure with Arabian Night ($23), consisting of purple carrot-infused mezcal, hummus clarified milk, aquafaba, toast and hummus garnish.
Salt & Palm is closed on Tuesdays but opens on Monday and Wednesdays to Sunday from 5pm to 11pm. Certainly, Salt & Palm is the perfect new restaurant for an enjoyable meal this season in Singapore. Plus, it’s set to become one of the biggest hits in the Singaporean hospitality scene this year.
