Singapore is one of the world’s greatest cities, from vibrant hawker centres to iconic viewpoints, instagrammable locations like SuperTree Grove, and many more. So we always try to find out interesting facts about this fantastic city to surprise you. With this in mind, do you even know which is the shortest road in Singapore?
Contrary to popular belief, Lorong Pendek and Short Street are not the shortest roads on the island. In fact, the secondary road of Tua Kong Green is the shortest road in Singapore. The road has a length of just 25 metres making it the shortest street in the island-state. This is in stark contrast to the longest road in Singapore which stretches a whopping 25km.
Shortest road in Singapore
The smallest road, Tua Kong Green, is located in the Siglap area of Singapore near Upper East Coast Road. It is officially recognised as Singapore’s shortest road in the Singapore Book of Records since 2016. Although, other short roads may not have been officially recorded or measured in Singapore. So, this formal recognition can only be taken lightly.
The road is located in a vibrant residential area and it is used as a minor connecting road with a clear start and end point. Meanwhile, its unique status comes from the fact it is the shortest street in the city – and that’s all.
Some notable landmarks and attractions nearby include East Coast Park with one of the nation’s best beaches, a historic street named Jalan Tua Kong, popular restaurants, temples, shopping malls, and reputable schools. Meanwhile, the tiny road is situated near Bedok MRT Station.
