Looking for some good news stories? Singapore quietly scooped the top prize last week at the Gelato World Cup 2026 in Italy. Held at SIGEP World – The World Expo for Foodservice Excellence in Rimini, the competition ran over four intense days and brought together 12 national teams from across the globe, each hoping for the title of the planet’s best gelato artisans. The Singapore team was tested through a range of challenges but was crowned no.1 for showcasing talent, innovation, and excellence in gelato creation. Here’s what happened.
How did Singapore rise to the top at the Gelato World Cup 2026?
The Singaporean team impressed judges in a demanding series of ten technical challenges, ranging from traditional creations like gelato cakes, gelato sticks and single-portion desserts in a glass, to elaborate artistic showpieces crafted from chocolate and sugar, the chef’s flavour mastery, visual artistry, and more.
Despite some setbacks before and during the competition, the team stayed strong to become victorious. Led by expert gelato chefs and pastry artists including Jason Tan, Dexter Lee, Loh Cheng Kit, and Chew Wei Lung, Singapore’s team stood out for its innovation, balance of textures, and presentation excellence. Their artistic craftsmanship and daring flavour combinations set a new benchmark for Asia on the global stage.

The Gelato World Cup, often referred to as the Olympics of Gelato, continues to highlight the world’s best in frozen dessert artistry. Following this historic achievement, Singapore now steps into a defining role on the road to the Gelato World Cup 2028.
Additionally, Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre will host the Gelato World Cup Asia Selections as part of the SIGEP & Restaurant Asia from July 15 to 17, 2026—bringing the region’s most accomplished gelato professionals as they compete for a place in the 2028 World Finals.
