Efforts to support low-income families with essential needs like food and transportation are expanding in Singapore. Among these initiatives, low-income households can now apply for public transport vouchers to assist against the public transport fare increase in the city. Here’s what we know about the public transport vouchers in Singapore:
Singapore public transport vouchers
Starting on January 14, 2025, eligible families can apply for public transport vouchers (PTVs) worth S$60 under the 2024 PTV Exercise. In fact, this is an increase from S$50 in the previous year. These vouchers aims to help against the impact of a recent 6% fare hike on public transport in Singapore.
Households with a monthly income per person of up to $1,800 can apply for the $60 vouchers online or at their local community clubs. Apply online here. These vouchers can be used for fare card top-ups or monthly passes which are valid until March 2026. Wonderfully, this initiative should benefit an additional 60,000 of households this year. Overall, these PTVs provide financial relief for families struggling with rising transport costs.
Additionally, the government has implemented other broader strategies to support low-income families. Programmes such as the Healthy Living Passport, transport subsidies for students and persons with disabilities, and partnerships with food businesses, aim to tackle the cost of living crisis in the city-state.
