Whisking Bakes was first concepted in 2020 when owner Chanel suddenly lost her job as an airhostess during COVID-19. In July 2022, she launched Whisking Bakes very first café with an interesting taro theme as well as being home to the world’s first Orh Nee Tart Balls.
The bakery café at Crawford Lane is set in a small modern cosy space complete with beige white walls, shades of purple, wooden tables featuring lavender plants and wall fixtures.
Firstly, the Orh Nee Tart Balls are of course the star of the café. These drooling and addictive doughy balls are filled with soul-satisfying orh nee filling. Pay $6.80 for five tart balls. Additionally, those who’d rather eat at home can purchase a big batch of 25 for $32 or 11 tarts for just $15. Certainly, the perfect shared dessert idea.
In addition, enjoy a range of other delicious affordable taro-filled desserts created using homemade yam paste. Think the addictive Taro Mochi Swiss Roll which is a smooth purple cake infused with taro cream and mochi, the Taromisu made caffeine-free and alcohol-free using taro milk instead. Plus, the thick and creamy Taro Basque Burnt Cheesecake is a serious crowd-pleaser.
Excellently, there’s a selection of taro-infused and other unique beverages to clinch the thirst such as the Taro Latte, Strawberry Mint Kombucha as well as a range of coffees and more.
Whisking Bakes taro café is an excellent choice for a late night dessert because it opens until 12am at the weekends.
