We already know Singapore Changi Airport is one of the best airports in the world. Time and time again, it is awarded for its innovative facilities, unique airport dining, comfort, and attractions. But did you know it’s also one of the world’s most luxurious airports? According to a recent study by UK company AllClear Travel Insurance, Singapore’s Changi Airport is the fifth most luxurious airport worldwide.
World’s most luxurious airports – Changi
The insurance agency shortlisted 69 airports, based on their luxury status, after examining more than 1,900 airports across the world. Each airport received a luxury score from 1 to 100 and needed to have a minimum of 10 passenger lounges to be considered.
Changi Airport received a luxury score of 61 out of 100 tying for fifth place with Sydney’s Kingsford Smith Airport.
Meanwhile, Dubai International Airport took first place scoring 83 out of 100 to rank as the world’s most luxurious airport. While London’s Heathrow Airport took second place with a score of 82 and Qatar’s Hamad International Airport ranked at third with a score of 73 out of 100.
Here are the top five world’s most luxurious airports:
1. Dubai International Airport
2. London Heathrow Airport
3. Hamad International Airport
4. Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport
5. Singapore Changi Airport
5. Sydney International Airport
Several factors were considered in the ranking including four key luxurious score categories of access to champagne and caviar bars, high-end hotels nearby the airport, designer stores offered, and lounges available. Changi Airport scored 19 in lounges, 29 for luxury brands offered, 10 for champagne and caviar, and a 3 for four and five star hotels.
Sydney International Airport scored greater for high-end hotels and luxurious brands available even though the total luxury score was the same as Changi Airport. Therefore, Changi Airport needs improvements with more luxurious hotels located nearby to jump up the list.
Additionally, Bangkok International Airport, Hong Kong International Airport, Frankfurt Airport in Germany, and Japan’s Narita Airport completed the list of the Top 10 most luxurious airports in the world.
Changi Airport is one of the best things to do in Singapore even if you’re not catching a flight. It is a city in itself with a myriad of exciting attractions for people of all ages to enjoy, shopping experiences, the world’s tallest indoor waterfall, authentic restaurants, a unique 4-storey digital waterfall, and so much more.
