Another day, another award ranking for the city of Singapore. This time we’ve been given the title of one of Top 10 World’s Smartest Cities. According to an annual Smart City Index, Singapore is the fifth smartest city in the world, making it also the smartest city in Asia beating out the likes of Seoul and Beijing.
World’s smartest cities – Singapore
The yearly Smart City Index 2024, produced by Institute of Management Development (IMD), analyses 142 cities around the world on how well they use technology to develop citizen’s quality of life. The index is based on economic and technological aspects of smart cities globally.
Zurich is the world’s smartest city according to the ranking published on April 9. Oslo came in at second place, while Australia’s Canberra ranked at third, Geneva at fourth place, and Singapore making up the top five spots on the list.
Wonderfully, Singapore is a ”super-champion” because it jumped from seventh place last year to fifth place for 2024. Singapore is thriving in areas such as public transport, public safety, and basic sanitation of the poorest areas – enabling a better quality of life for citizens.
Here are the Top 10 smartest cities worldwide 2024:
1. Zurich
