Maxwell’s new status as a celebrity hotspot
Proving she is a true connoisseur of Singapore’s vibrant hawker centre, she named the iconic Maxwell Food Centre in Chinatown as a global go-to for dinner and snacks—describing it as a ”true Singaporean gem”.
Maxwell Food Centre, nestled in the heart of Chinatown, is no stranger to celebrity visitors. The spectacular hawker haven has impressed the likes of Lady Gaga and Drew Barrymore too over the years. While Lipa didn’t reveal every single dish she devoured, Maxwell is world-famous for staples like Michelin-approved chicken rice, oyster cake, and pipping hot bowls of fish soup.
The British-Albanian artist was spotted at Maxwell Food Centre in November 2024. She shared pictures to Instagram of herself and her friends happily trying various local dishes including award-winning laksa, soya beancurd, chili crab, and noodles.

Additionally, a 2024 article on the Service95 website named four other Singapore restaurants that Lipa is a fan of. These are Firangi Superstar, Nixta, New Ubin Seafood, and 328 Katong Laksa.
Certainly, knowing that one of the world’s biggest popstars appreciates the everyday comfort of Maxwell Food Centre is a huge win for Singapore. Expect slightly longer lines at your favourite hawker stalls this week as fans and foodies alike try to eat exactly like Dua Lipa.
