Singapore marks its return to normality with a range of new attractions, from Artbox after three years to the world-famous Van Gogh The Immersive Experience happening at Sentosa. And now, the annual Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar has made a comeback bigger and better than before. It opened on March 17, and we checked it out just as vendors were setting up for the weekend ahead.
Geylang Serai Bazaar 2023
The popular Ramadan festival runs from March 17 to April 22, marking the longest-ever run time of 36 days. Wonderfully, it started five days before Ramadan fasting on March 23 – so foodies can enjoy the most delicious stalls prior while celebrating Hari Raya.
The Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar 2023 boasts more than 700 stalls, which is 70 more than in 2022. Opened from 10am to 11.59pm daily, and split into two areas which are Souq City and Street Bazaar…visitors won’t be disappointed.
Here’s what to expect
There are dozens of delicious street food and drink vendors, alongside various retail stalls selling items from $1. When we arrived, the market had just opened, but a number of concepts that stood out were authentic Hasan Istanbul Kebab, crowd-favourite Fooditude serving praffles with flavours like chili crab and truffle cheese, Juicy Dengdeng’s chicken honey, Taiwanese Crispy Chicken, Sweet Tooth beverages, to name a few.
Another unmissable food vendor is the Whiskdom X Kayak Chicken stall which had an eager crowd forming as we arrived. Plus, visitors can expect a mix of global street foods, either Muslim-owned or halal-friendly, alongside affordable retail stalls, entertainment, children’s games and much more. Meanwhile, there’s a section to donate non-perishable halal food and clothing for Hari Raya.
Additionally, the Street Bazaar encompass the area from Geylang Serai Market to Tanjong Katong Complex, boasting interactive art installations and much more.
A huge dining area for people of all ages, as well as a carpeted space, covered with glamping tents and fairy lights, where visitors can sit comfortably tucking into their food and enjoying daily live entertainment from the stage.
Certainly, Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar 2023 is the perfect place for foodies, or family and friends to enjoy an evening out together this season. Be sure to visit before April 16, 2023. Beware the stalls only accept PayNow or Cash.
