An iconic new immersive experience, dedicated to Singapore’s founding father – Lee Kuan Yew – opened in Singapore on October 6. LKY: The Experience is part of many celebrations to commemorate 100 years of the late Mr Lee.
The quirky exhibition features more than 20 interactive rooms, across three zones, inviting you to discover the man behind the name, and 100 years of legacy. Learn Mr Lee’s story from childhood to adulthood through games, cool installations, hands-on activities, and interactive storytelling.
LKY: The Experience
The fun exhibition weaves together memories, milestones, and motivations bringing visitors on a journey through time across 20 themed rooms – each unlocking a chapter of Lee Kuan Yew’s life as a child, student, husband, and leader.
On Level 1 titled The Moments, step into a replica of a 1930’s classroom, a product of Mr Lee’s childhood memories. After, be mesmerised by his grandparent’s plantation, and follow a clothes line that starts to burn which symbolises the Japanese occupation, and other turning points in his life.
Other highlights include an exotic cloud room depicting Mr Lee’s thoughts on independence, a quirky green vintage car you can pose inside, zones about his inspiring wife with hand written letters, as well as their wedding reception at Raffles Hotel, and videos showing him crying after Singapore succeeded with independence from Malaysia.
Additionally, there are dozens of instagrammable spaces on Level 2 titled The Beliefs. From photo ops like a colourful podium, to playing in a ball pit with inflatables, solving problems in interactive games, testing your skills through obstacles…it’s the perfect place for both kids and adults to create wonderful memories.
Of course, you can’t miss the whimsical rainbow slide representing Mr Lee’s most iconic quote: ”follow that rainbow, go ride it.” This means to keep chasing goals and dreams.
Meanwhile, Level 3 titled The Unwritten showcases how Lee Kuan Yew’s life shaped his ideas that impacted Singapore as a nation. Plus, visitors are invited to write stories about how he inspired them to stick on the wall.
Don’t forget to check out a free showcase featuring 100 stories collected from everyday people on how Mr Lee’s legacy affected them and influenced history, just before entering the ticketed area.
LKY: The Experience tickets
Tickets costs $18 and the event is on until December 31 from 10am to 8pm. Senior citizens aged 65 or above get a 20% discount. Children aged 12 and under go for free with an adult. Book via LKY: The Experience.
