A famous Muslim-owned patisserie, Sinful Cakes, reopened its doors recently after a period of closure. The halal bakery, which started as a home business, was forced to shut its Kensington Square store last year. However, they opened a beautiful new cafe at City Gate to the joy of fans.
Particularly, the artisanal macaroons were always the star of the patisserie. With 12 different flavours inspired by Singapore, customers are obsessed to the point that Sinful Cakes are cleared out of these daily. Highlights include Kinder, Pistachio, Thai Milk Tea, Waffle Crisps, Creme Brulee and more, all generously filled with layers of cream. Customers can purchase one for $2.50 or grab a box for the office at $25.
And, the instagrammable bakes don’t end with the macaroons. The indulgent Lotus Biscoff Basque Cheesecake is baked to perfection, drizzled in layers of biscoff spread and caramel sauce. Buy yourself a slice for $13 or pre-order a full cake at $55 to share at home. Meanwhile, the new Cinnamon Chocolate Rolls and Pesto Cream Cheese Rolls are also must-trys.
Cookie lovers can indulge on the beasty new creation, Cookie Mak. It’s a 1.7kg warm cookie with a super thick core filled with gooey flavours like Maltesers, cream cheese, chocolate and honeycomb. Potentially, it’s the biggest cookie dish in Singapore at present. Add a scoop of Earl Grey or Pistachio Ice Cream for extra pleasure.
Certainly, there’s plenty of other delicious IG-worthy bakes to get your hands on. From rainbow cupcakes to cookie sandwiches, doughnuts and more. Sinful Cakes is the perfect place to sinfully enjoy an array of desserts this week.
