The highly-anticipated Singapore Oceanarium is set to open on July 23, 2025, at Resorts World Sentosa. The marine attraction, formerly known as S.E.A Aquarium, closed for a major revamp in April 2025. The new oceanarium is set to become a landmark attraction dedicated to marine education, research, and conservation. Spanning three times the size of its predecessor, Singapore Oceanarium is part of Sentosa’s broader RWS 2.0 expansion, aiming to attract even more tourists. Here’s what we know.
Singapore Oceanarium opens
The Singapore Oceanarium boasts 22 themed zones that guide visitors on a journey through both space and time. From the shallow coastal waters and mangroves to the mysterious depths of the open ocean, and even back to prehistoric seas…you’ll be truly captivated.
Notable highlights include the Ocean Wonders zone, which is home to one of the world’s largest kreisel habitats, filled with thousands of moon jellies. Meanwhile, Singapore’s Coast recreates local mangrove ecosystems with interactive, educational displays, while immersive experiences are enhanced by life-sized models of ancient sea creatures and a dramatic 36-metre-wide viewing panel showcasing reef manta rays and zebra sharks.
Additionally, the Singapore Oceanarium introduces a state-of-the-art Research and Learning Centre adjacent to the main attraction. The facility is designed to advance marine science through partnerships with leading academic institutions, including a five-year collaboration with the National University of Singapore and a two-year project with the Earth Observatory of Singapore at Nanyang Technological University. Meanwhile, the centre is certified as a Green Mark Platinum Zero Energy Building and features immersive labs, seminar rooms, and collaborative spaces.
Plus, visitors can look forward to innovative digital experiences, like holographic displays that bring rare and prehistoric ocean creatures to life, and multisensory storytelling exhibitions aimed at fostering a deeper emotional connection with the marine world. Wonderfully, the attraction offers a ocean-themed retail store and themed marine cafe.
What makes this facility better than its predecessor?
Singapore Oceanarium can be set apart from its predecessor due to its sheer scale, technological sophistication, educational ambition, and a larger commitment to sustainability and climate resilience. The new facility not only triples the exhibition space but also leverages cutting-edge digital innovation and interactive technology to deliver a richer, more immersive experience. Plus, it’s set to become a world-class institute for promoting change and action when it comes to our oceans.
