National Museum of Singapore, reopens the iconic Shaw Foundation Glass Rotunda next week with a debut immersive exhibition—after 10 months of renovations. Singapore Odyssea: A Journey Through Time will captivate visitors from August 8, 2025. Singapore Odyssea: A Journey Through Time
The new exhibition replaces the previous Story of the Forest installation and is an SG60 gift from the museum. It aims to create an engaging and accessible entry point into the rich history of Singapore—combining technology and art—to excite visitors of all ages.
Singapore Odyssea invites guests on a journey back in time through four episodes. Designed by local creatives, the exhibition spotlights key moments, layered with local stories and myths, cultural context, and insight on Singapore’s identity.
From boarding a time-travelling vessel to the future before being greeted by stunning light shows, to visual wall projections of key scenes from wartime and Singapore’s first National Day Parade…it’s the ultimate museum experience. Meanwhile, the dynamic floor responds to visitors movements and there’s a cinematic digital waterfall curtain to see at the base of the Glass Rotunda.
Interestingly, guests receive RFID wristbands that activate magical companions. Each wristband can adopt one of nine companions—each inspired by Singapore’s native fauna—such as a coastal crab, sky-gliding hornbill, and more. These are released into a digital well after exploring the exhibit’s stunning visual and soundscape.
