The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has officially wrapped up its latest phase of the Friendly Streets initiative—transforming four more bustling residential neighbourhoods into pedestrian havens in Tiong Bahru-Havelock, Pek Kio, Bukit Panjang, and Sembawang. In fact, this means Singapore now has a total of nine Friendly Streets. Here’s what we know about the LTA friendly streets.

The island-state now offers nine dedicated Friendly Streets after these latest completions. This marks a major milestone in the nation’s push towards a more walkable, people-centric urban environment that focuses on everyday convenience.
Wonderfully, it’s now noticeably safer for you, seniors, and families with young children to walk to the local market, school, or the MRT station. Motorists driving through these zones will now encounter prominent green road markings, raised zebra crossings, and strategic road humps designed to lower vehicle speeds.
Meanwhile, pedestrians are directly benefiting from wider, barrier-free crossings and reconfigured traffic lights that offer shorter waiting periods and extended crossing times to ensure no one has to rush across the tarmac.
Here’s the full list of upgraded pedestrian-friendly zones and their specific streets:
- Bukit Panjang: Pending Road, Bukit Panjang Ring Road, and Bangkit Road.
- Pek Kio: Cambridge Road, Owen Road, and Kent Road.
- Sembawang: Sembawang Drive, Sembawang Vista, Sembawang Alley, Sembawang Way, and Admiralty Drive.
- Tiong Bahru-Havelock: Havelock Road and Indus Road.
