Singapore’s newest independent cinema, Filmhouse, has finally opened at The Projector’s beloved three-screen space at Golden Mile Tower on Beach Road—giving the cult venue a second life instead of letting it fade to black. Helmed by much of The Projector’s original core team, it promises the same offbeat, community-first energy, but with technical upgrades and a refreshed look that keeps the soul of the place intact. Cinema enthusiasts can expect an arthouse environment showcasing festival favourites, new releases, and under-the-radar gems. Here’s what to expect at Filmhouse Singapore.
How is Filmhouse different from the old Projector?
Regulars will instantly recognise the Green Room, Blue Room, and Redrum halls at the indie cinema—whose cult names and some of the iconic murals are being retained as a nostalgic nod to the venue’s past life. Meanwhile, some spaces are under renovations. Although, the Green Room received a 4K projection upgrade, while the Blue Room and Redrum continue with 2k setups to balance better image quality with the scrappy charm fans loved.
Additionally, Filmhouse has worked with award-winning furniture designer Nathan Yong and creative collaborators including Speak Cryptic and Kunckles & Notch to bring the venue to life with creative elements. Plus, there is a fresh coat of paint and a revamped snack bar aiming to make the Filmhouse a cosy hangout before and after screenings.
Filmhouse Singapore aims to build a refuge for people who love movie screenings with sharper screens, bolder curations, and a clear vision. From risk-taking stories to cult-favourites…you’ll be spoilt for choice at this new indie cinema. Highlights include new releases, foreign titles, arthouse darlings, retrospective screenings, collaborations with ambassies, and more.

Excitingly, cinema goers can enjoy classic cinema popcorn, as well a seasonal popcorn flavours, soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, from cocktails to beers, wines, and more—all from the Snackbar before it transforms into Trailer Bar after hours.
What films are being screened this season?
From February 3, audiences can expect a work-in-progress experience as the team fine-tunes operations and builds up to full capacity. Acclaimed titles to see this season include Sentimental Value, winner of Best Motion Picture in Drama at the 2026 Golden Globes Hamnet, crowd-pleasing comedy Rental Family, alongside featured classics like Little Miss Sunshine, among others. Plus, Pink Screen in honour of the LGBTQIA+ will return during Pride Month.
The Projector’s sudden closure after 11 years in August 2025 shocked fans across Singapore. The cinematic resurrection is being led by former Projector general manager Sharon Tan, ex-head of programming Walter Navarro, and is funded by a regular cinephile.
Certainly, Filmhouse will become a go-to for late-night screenings, date night, or a festival marathon.
