Singapore Budget 2025 highlights
These initiatives aim to benefit a wide range of citizens and support various sectors. Particularly, this year’s Budget pays special attention to areas such as sports, arts, and hawker culture. Read on to see a detailed breakdown of each 2025 financial aid programme:
1. Cash Benefits & Vouchers
Singapore celebrates its 60th anniversary by giving all Singaporeans aged 21 and above SG60 Vouchers. Those aged 21+ will receive $600 while seniors aged 60 and above will get $800. These vouchers can be used at participating merchants, hawker centres, and supermarkets from July 2025. These vouchers are valid until December 31, 2026.
Additionally, every household in Singapore will receive $800 in CDC Vouchers (Community Development Council). These will be disbursed with $500 in May 2025 and $300 in January 2026. Meanwhile, families with children aged 12 and below are set to receive $500 per child to offset household expenses like groceries and utilities as part of the LifeSG Credits for Children. Plus, youths aged 13 to 20 will receive a one-off $500 top-up to support education expenses under Edusave or Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) Top-Ups.
2. Cultural & Recreational Benefits
Singaporeans aged 18 and above will receive $100 worth of credits under the SG Culture Pass. These credits can be used to purchase tickets for local performances, exhibitions, workshops, and more. These will be valid from September 1, 2025 to December 31, 2028. Learn more about Culture Pass Singapore.
Meanwhile, all ActiveSG members will get $100 top-up for sports and recreational activities to promote healthy living. Plus, new members joining ActiveSG in 2025 will get a total of $200 in credits to be used on sports programmes starting in June 2025.
3. Personal Income Tax Rebate
All resident taxpayers will receive a 60% rebate on their income tax payable for the Year of Assessment 2025. This means the income earned in 2025 will be automatically capped at $200 per taxpayer for Ya 2025. Certainly, this will benefit middle-income workers in Singapore.
4. Support For Seniors & Households
Seniors can expect extra support with enhanced MediSave top-ups ranging from $150 to $450 for healthcare expenses. Meanwhile, the ComCare Assistance Scheme payouts increased by up to $120 per month for lower-income seniors. Already, eligible seniors received extra cash under the Singapore Government Payouts 2025.
Additionally, eligible HDB households will receive up to $760 in U-Save rebates to help cover utility bills.
5. Other SG goodies
The SG60 Baby Gift sees Singaporean babies born in 2025 receiving a special SG60 Baby Gift package. Details on this are expected in March 2025. Are you entitled to these benefits?
Please note these financial benefits are subject to eligibility. Majority of benefits, like the vouchers and rebates, are automatically disbursed based on eligibility, such as age, household type, etc. Meanwhile, there is no action required for tax rebates as they are computed automatically by the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore. Additionally, seniors can access enhanced healthcare benefits via MediSave top-ups and families with children or larger households can expect additional credits or financial support to ease childcare and education costs.
